Mary remained at Little Lever when her husband sailed to Australia 1852. She never emigrated to Australia and raised the remaining ten children. Mary’s bible is titled “M.Thomson”. Written inside From Margaret Middlebrough to Mary Thomson her grand daughter. From Mrs Heywood (the above) Mary Thomson Born 1804 to Margaret Whitworth (her daughter) born 1844. From Margaret Whitworth to her daughter Mary Emma Lund 1914 born 1880. From the above Emma Lund to her son Albert Whitworth Milton Lund 1956 born 1915. Mary and Joseph’s first 8 children were born at Farnworth and christened at Halshaw Moor independent. The next 6 children were born at Little Lever. Mary is buried at King’s Church, Market and Chapel Sts, little Lever alongside the church. She died in 1900. Joseph died onboard ship in 1953.
